Nina and Jake had such an amazing wedding day last Saturday at the American Legion in Topeka.

The day started with getting ready at Nina’s house with her two adorable dog. Here’s a fair warning, if you have dogs at your wedding, half the album will be of them. No shame. While I hung out with the doggies, my second shooter was having a blast with Jake and his groomsmen. From custom flasks to garters for all the girls, they pulled out all the stops.

After getting dressed, we headed to Gage Park for some family formals. I don’t spend a lot of time in Topeka, but when I do, I love going to Gage Park. So many flowers and pure prettiness all around! We took family formals, where Nina had an amazing moment with her mom. Her mom passed on her grandmother’s wedding drink and we were all in tears. It was such a special moment for sure.

Following family formals, we had tons of time for bride and groom portraits. I absolutely love when couples have a first look because it gives us so much more time to be creative with portraits. We wandered around Gage Park and were able to capture so many beautiful images.

The night concluded with a fun reception at the American Legion in Topeka. This venue is proof that you don’t need an elaborate ballroom to have a beautiful reception. From the look of these images, you would never guess the room started as a blank slate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many emotional first dances. Jake danced with his daughter and Nina had three father/daughter dances with all the important men in her life.

This wedding also had one of the most fun cake smashes I’ve ever been able to witness. Nina was not worried about getting a little messy as Jake smashed her with an entire piece of cake and she did the same. So fun!

Great wedding photos. I like the emotion of them at the ceremony.

A little bit about me:

  1. I describe my style as real and vibrant. I focus on bright colors and incredible sunsets. I will force you to break away from your reception during sunset for pictures. You won’t regret it!
  2. I’m a huge animal lover. I own three cats and volunteer whenever I can at an animal shelter. If you ask if you can bring a pet to your engagement session, you will become my new best friend.
  3. I’m a newlywed, so I understand the wedding planning struggle!
