I absolutely love engagement sessions because I really have the opportunity to get to know the couple before the day of. Wedding days are rushed and stressful, but engagement sessions give us the opportunity to hang out and take some pretty pictures.
I met up with Samantha and Taylor last night at Antioch Park. To our (not) surprise, thunderstorms were predicted in the forecast. Thankfully the sky cleared and we were able to have an awesome session with really pretty light. Plus, they brought their dogs. Have I mentioned before how much it makes my life complete whenever I have dogs at a session???
Samantha and Taylor are seriously the cutest together. They were both very apprehensive about the session and worried about being super awkward in front of the camera. At the end of the session, Samantha asked me how they did on a scale of one to ten. haha! Well, judging by these images, I’d say they did amazing and you can’t tell how awkward they may have felt going into the session! Also, isn’t that romper seriously the cutest thing you have ever seen? I need one in my life!
Let me tell you a little secret about how I go about engagement sessions. I never think about it as ‘these two are really awkward in front of the camera.’ Instead, I think about prompts to make you interact naturally and feel less like you’re posing for pictures. I have never left a session thinking that couple had no idea how to be in front of a camera! If I did, I wouldn’t be doing my job very well.
I always leave the session thinking how I’m so excited to get to editing because I know I captured some adorableness! I was even laughing on my way home thinking about a new favorite prompt for piggy back rides. While I can’t spoil the fun, couples in the future will be hearing this prompt 🙂
Thank you so much for a super fun session Samantha and Taylor! Here’s your full preview!

Short story- Taylor proposed when we were out on our boat at sunset one night by ourselves.
Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?
I love his optimism and drive to be the best he can in all areas of life.
Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?
I love that she portrays herself as a badass but I know deep down she is a sweet woman and wants the best for people. I love that she is blunt and has no problem with telling people her opinions and how she feels, which makes me know she is a trustworthy partner in life.
