Alright, guys, I’m super excited about sharing my latest personal project with you. Over the past couple months, I have been working really hard to organize a styled shoot. I put together this beautiful shoot at Berry Acres (Kansas City Wedding Venue).
For those who don’t know, a styled shoot is basically a mock wedding. In collaboration with other vendors, we focus on several core moments of a wedding day. This styled shoot was very simple compared to some I’ve seen. We did a first look and then spent the rest of the time on portraits.
The shoot took place on April 30th. If you remember anything about that weekend, you know it did not stop raining. It was absolutely freezing, windy, and uncomfortable, but despite the weather not cooperating, we were able to create some beautiful images.
I can’t thank the other vendors enough. Berry Acres was kind enough to let us use their property. Seriously, if you’re looking for the most beautiful venue in the area, you have to check them out. They offer all inclusive packages that cover pretty much everything you could need on your big day. They’re also getting ready to launch a second ceremony/reception location on their property. The Hilltop, which seriously offers the best view of the sunset, will be opening soon. They also offer fireworks! Yeah, that’s right. You can get your portraits taken under fireworks. The owners also also seriously the sweetest people you will ever meet. They go above and behind to ensure your day is perfect. I really can’t say enough about this place. It’s seriously one of the best venues in the area. You need to check it out!
Eden Floral and Events designed the most beautiful bouquet. Located extremely close to me in Lenexa, the owner had to make some compromises since the flowers she planned on using died the day before she put together the bouquet. She apologized profusely for not giving me her best work. If this wasn’t her best work, I can’t even imagine what her definition of good would look like. I even brought the bouquet to a friend afterward, who kept them on her desk at work. She received so many complements. They stayed fresh for almost a week after the event. Jenifer is extremely flexible and so talented. She knows how to pair colors and was able to design the perfect flowers for the shoot without me having a clue what I wanted. The shop is located at 12106 w 87th street in Lenexa. For timeless and classic flowers, definitely consider Eden Floral and Events.
For hair and makeup, I actually had a friend of mine, Alysen Lauridsen, do the work. She studied cosmetology from Paul Mitchell The School. Wedding styling is her absolute favorite, so I was extremely happy when she agreed to help out. She spent a hour perfectly crafting hair and makeup, and then spent the rest of the time acting as my assistant. I was very grateful to have help since my light stands really did not like the wind. I almost lost a flash in the process. It wasn’t pretty. Thankflly Alysen was there to save the day. She stood out in the cold, adjusting hair when necessary while also stopping a gear catastrophe. She is currently in the process of getting an online portfolio up to date, but if you want her info, let me know!
Finally, the beautiful Morgan Pashen and handsome Brian Pashen participated as my amazing models. Morgan is an aspiring model, originally from Texas. She recently moved to Kansas City and is looking to expand her connection in the area. When I first contact her about doing a bridal shoot, I was super worried about having to work with a male model and make it look like they actually liked each other. Thankfully she was able to sweet talk her husband into participating. It made my job so much easier. To top it off, they both enjoy dancing, so we were able to get some sweet dips and twirls. Morgan is a natural model. She took my posing cues very easily, but most of the time needed little direction. Despite freezing to death, they were both extremely cooperative. I felt so bad for making them stand out in the cold, but they participated without a complaint.
Once again, I thank these amazing vendors and models for their participation. I couldn’t have done it without any of them. They are all incredibly talented individuals who truly care about making your day incredible. If you or someone you know is planning a wedding, please check them out!
Oh incase you care about the photographer who organized this thing, that’s me! I’m Elizabeth Golden, owner of eGolden Moments Photography. Just like the other vendors, I also truly care about making your day the best it can be. I still have some 2017 wedding dates open and I’m currently booking 2018. Let’s create something beautiful together!
