Big Cedar Lodge Wedding | Lisa + John

Lisa and John had an incredible wedding at the Top of the Rock at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson.

Big Cedar Lodge Weddings are some of my absolute favorite to photograph because the picture opportunities are endless. Originally, however, Big Cedar Lodge was not the original plan for Lisa and John. They were planning a wedding at a local airbnb before COVID forced their original location to close for good. It’s funny because these two actually have no ties to the Kansas City area. They chose the location because they have family coming from all over the country and Missouri central for everyone.

When they were forced to postpone and start planning from scratch, they asked their amazing wedding planner, Hannah with Bridal Path Weddings and Events, for a new location. She had always dreamed of working on a wedding at Big Cedar, so she showed the location to Lisa and John. Even though they were planning the entire wedding from afar, they fell in love with all the Missouri scenery.

Since they decided to have an early afternoon wedding, their wedding day was actually divided into two parts. Since the sunset opportunities at Big Cedar are endless, I convinced them to have their first look the night before. We followed the first look with sunset portraits and a sparkler exit.

The actual wedding day went perfectly, major thanks to Hannah. She had the entire day planned out so it went without a hitch. I loved watching Lisa and John celebrate this special day with their closest friends and family members who traveled so far to see them finally tie the knot.

One of my favorite moments had to be their first dance. Instead of going with a traditional song, Lisa actually commissioned a musician to create a custom song outlining their relationship. This was a surprise to John and all their guests.

Casual rustic mountain theme, yet with a twist of paris romance (only a hint…not trying to be overly formal)

Our original venue canceled due to COVID, so this was Plan B but worked out beautifully.

  1. You can tell in every picture just how much they love each other? I am so glad Lisa got a wedding of her dreams and John received a wife so precious to adore every day?

  2. It was such a beautiful day that was made perfect by the joining of these two lives together. My brother and new sister tied the knot and not only had a perfect venue and perfect weather but the perfect wedding to make their lives complete together. I’m so happy for both of them and I am so happy to have been able to attend. Best wishes and many more happy years to come. Love you both!

  3. We were so honored and blessed to be able to celebrate with our close friends and family during this wonderful event in our lives. The location at Big Cedar was magical and we couldn’t have asked for anything nicer. We appreciate all the staff at Big Cedar, and especially Erin, for her efforts in helping us coordinate everything when we arrived. We also owe a debt of gratitude to our AMAZING wedding planner, Hannah, for her tireless work in planning and executing the wedding of our dreams. She was a god-send and we highly recommend her to anyone wanting peace of mind that things will both get done well and run smoothly the day of. John and I also wanted to be true to a rustic feel to the wedding (no sound system), so the string quartet (St. Marks2) helped up pull that off beautifully. The music was gorgeous. They were on time, professional, and played to perfection. We also owe a shout-out to Elizabeth, our awesome photographer who has worked with us so patiently from the start. Since we are from Chicago and she is in the Kansas City area, she was so patient in helping coordinate with our schedule to capture gorgeous pics of us, both for the engagement and the wedding. She is very thorough in her questionnaires ahead of time but also very efficient in her sessions. I love how she has the ability to capture the moment on film, capturing the romance, emotion, expressions of love and joy, etching them in print for all time. Thank you all so much. And we also want to thank James Allen for the rings (they were so PERFECT, especially for the Paris proposal), Mockingbird Bridal in Dallas for helping me find the gorgeous Demetrios dress on the first session ( so impressive!), Kukka flowers for the romantic flowers (the girls had a fun flower making morning creating all the bouquets and centerpieces), Grand Wedding Exits for the sparklers that worked perfectly for our sparkler show (and lots of fun for guests), Minted Weddings for our original wedding invitations and Save-the-Dates, Lucky Lady Papers for the Passport Invites for 2021 date (we wanted to support small business, especially during COVID crisis) and Blue Thistle Bakery for the delicious and beautiful cake (so many compliments on the flavor).
