Burr Oak Woods Engagement | Becky + John
It’s not too often you hear a story like this. Becky and John have been together about eight years. Seven of the years were spent married. They divorced in 2017 and went on their second first date almost a year later. Now, they’re gearing up for another wedding and this one will be better than ever.
Becky admitted that last go around, she was much more serious. She wanted the classic photos and the classic wedding. While she still appreciates the classics, this time is more about the fun.
John and Becky are such a blast to be around (dare I say, nerf gun fight). It was near impossible to take a serious photo, and I was ok with that. In order to tolerate being in front of the camera again, John said they came to an agreement. He would take engagement pictures if he was allowed to goof around. I had so much fun just watching them interact and witness their love. It’s so obvious how much they care for each other.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me Becky and John. Here’s your full preview!
– Hear from the couple –
How did he/she propose?
John proposed in the Loose Park Rose Garden where we originally got married. We spent the evening at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and took a walk around the Plaza before he suggested walking up to the garden. He ran into a snafu with the ring, so he proposed with a Swarovski crystal cat. We booked eGolden last year, but he officially proposed on January 8th of this year. (awwww I feel so special when they book me before it’s even official)
Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?
His dedication. He wrote me so many beautiful letters when he wanted us to get back together, even though I told him no for nine months. When someone needs help, he goes all in. He’s passionate about his career and puts forth his all, whether it’s getting in shape for training or attending extra training.
Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?
Her smile. It means a lot.
What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?
Becky: All the fun details. Our first time planning was rushed because we were concerned I was going to get shipped overseas with my Reserve unit, so we moved up the date by six months. This time around I’m getting to enjoy the planning (plus I know what I’m doing this time around).
John: Getting to taste test the food and the cake.
What are you looking forward to most about your big day?
Becky: Getting to be married and be his wife again. I’m also excited to see the little details come together.
John: Getting to be married again, the food and the Tom’s Town bar.
