I had such a fun time with Nancy and Anthony for their downtown Kansas City engagement session. For my 2021 couples, I unveiled a new service I offer called a styled engagement session. For this session, I set the bride up with my favorite Kansas City hair and makeup artist and offer unlimited locations. Nancy and Anthony wanted a taste of all Kansas City has to offer, so we started out at Case Park near downtown then went to Loose Park followed by a sunset session at Liberty Memorial. I love styled sessions because professional makeup always photographs beautifully and we’re able to spend so much time together! Plus, professional hair and makeup also help give the bride a confidence boost!
Nancy and I immediately bonded over our love of animals! They have two horses, three dogs, and a cat, so of course we had to share fur baby pictures in our first conversation! We discussed so much leading up to our engagement session. From wardrobe suggestions to general conversations about life, I was so excited to actually meet these two in person. Thanks COVID for forcing all my initial meetings to take place on Zoom.
Nancy mentioned to me how Anthony isn’t big into pictures and wasn’t sure how they would do with the stereotypical romantic pictures. Well, he nailed it! We were all laughing so much throughout a session, leading to some pretty awesome moments. Contrary to Nancy’s suspicions, Anthony went along with all the poses and seemed to even enjoy himself. Nothing makes me happier than getting genuine reactions from the groom. Brides are easy, but the groom can often be a challenge. Thankfully, Anthony was so chill and willing to go along with all the crazy prompts I suggested.
Throughout the entire session, it was so obvious how much these two loved each other and enjoyed each other’s company. This session didn’t feel like a photoshop, but instead, it felt like we were hanging out and having a good time together! I seriously cannot wait until their wedding next year at the Pavilion Event Space! It is going to be an amazing party full of pool (yeah Anthony is basically a professional pool player) and love!
Thanks for hanging out with me! Here’s your full preview! More to come shortly!!!
Thank you Studio A Salon for the amazing hair and makeup! Nancy looked absolutely stunning! If any brides are interested in adding on a styled engagement session, let me know!
Hear from the couple –
How did he propose?
He proposed on the patio behind our house with the fire pit blazing on 6/16/2020. It was totally unexpected. We had looked at wedding rings in January of 2020 and I fully expected him to propose on a trip we had planned to go to Florida for the 4th of July. He decided to do it before because he wanted it to be a surprise.
Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?
I love that there’s no pressure. Our relationship flows with ease and he’s easy to talk to. He’s got a great sense of humor and I love being able to hear his laugh from across the room.
Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?
“her loving and caring nature, and her competitive spirit.”
What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?
I’m really enjoying looking at the options and picking my favorites. Also, I’m all about checking off boxes and just getting it done.
What are you looking forward to most about your big day?
I’m looking forward to having an amazing party with all my favorite people in one place.
