Wedding season is back and I couldn’t think of a better way to start than with Cody and Ali’s gorgeous day at Just the Place in Ozawkie, Kansas.
Cody and Ali first hired me almost a year and a half ago. Ali is a photographer herself, so it made me feel special that a photographer liked me enough to hire me for her own wedding.
Anyway, the day started with the most beautiful details! Ali had thought of literally everything. From the wooden flowers to the bridesmaid gifts, all details were thoughtfully put together and ready for me to photograph.
Throughout the day, I was constantly reminded about the value of family. Ali and Cody were so excited to have their family surrounding them, some of which traveled great distances to come.
The ceremony definitely did not disappoint. Ali entered to the Imperial March and the wedding party left to the Rains of Castemere. There were also other nerdy references throughout the ceremony. I particularly loved all the Friends references.
The day ended with a super fun dance party led by Mic King Music and Events. Everyone had a blast!

Share your inspiration and the atmosphere you’re creating for your wedding:
We are just trying to create a space that very much represents who we are and the love we feel for each other.
Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s):
We chose this wedding venue because we were looking for something that not only had the best bang for the price, but would also allow us to have an outdoor ceremony without charging an obnoxious fee and have an indoor option in case of bad weather. We fell in love with Just the Place and its surrounding area.
Are there any special songs to be played for the processional, recessional, or first dances that have special meaning?
We will have the Rains of Castemere play during the recessional. Because we are giant nerds and we think it would be HYSTERICAL to watch those who know what the song mean freak out and wonder who is going to die.
What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?
Try to set a schedule to get thing done by and stick to it so that you don’t end up 2 months out panicking. Also, don’t buy a house close to the wedding date.
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
Ali- Knowing that my family had an undeniable reason to have to come see me (I’m excited to see my family, can you tell?)!
Cody- Planning my wedding with the love of my life
Thanks to the amazing vendor team and Ali and Cody for allowing me to be part of their amazing day!
