Typically I will title a blog post the name of the location where the photos were taken, but we actually explored a couple different locations in the Kansas City area on Sunday night.

Loose Park Engagement Session

Jessica really wanted something with city vibes, but she also loved the idea of a romantic park. We decided to start at Loose Park since the possibilities are endless with the hope of having enough time to also venture to Liberty Memorial. When we neared the end of our session, we ran out of time to get to Liberty Memorial before the sun set, so we decided to stop at the Plaza instead. I’m so glad we were able to get some city views for these two to sport their KC attire!

The city was really all out on Sunday. Loose Park was filled with more people than I had ever seen. Typically I’ll run into tons of photographers, but this was a little different. The entire park was packed with people hanging out on this holiday weekend. Despite the crowds, we were still able to find a few quiet spaces to begin our session.

It was so fun watching these two interact. Jessica and Lucas actually met in high school and have been together for 7 years now! Wow! They actually found me through a former couple of mine, Courtney and Blake. Courtney and Blake were also high school sweethearts, and their wedding was an absolute blast. I can’t wait to celebrate with the same group this upcoming May!

Plus, Jessica and Lucas are fellow cat parents, so I know their wedding day will be amazing. That fact may or may not have anything to do with their wedding, but I just thought you all should know how awesome they are.

….anyway, here’s your full preview!! Enjoy!

Hear from the couple –

How did he propose?

Lucas proposed in our home. We were getting ready to go out for the night and I was walking downstairs. On my way down he asked for me to go up and grab his coat. When I came back down he was holding the ring box and of course I started freaking out.

Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?

I love how easy going and calm he is. I’m the complete opposite so we balance each other well. I love being able to be myself around him and him loving me for that. He’s my best friend and someone I always turn to. I love spending time with him and have enjoyed creating a life together from being 17 to now 24 and 25 and having 2 kitties and a house. We’ve grown so much together over the years.

Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?

I love how outspoken, loving, & caring she is. Jessica is a strong and confident woman that I cannot wait to start a family with. Ultimately she makes me strive to be a better person in every aspect of life. She’s my “person.”

What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?

I love wedding planning. I’m really weird and love organizing and planning things so this has been fun for me. I wish I didn’t travel so much for work so I could plan even more!

What are you looking forward to most about your big day?

Seeing all of our friends and family together helping us celebrate our next chapter of life!

Thanks for visiting!

A little bit about me:

  1. I describe my style as real and vibrant. I focus on bright colors and incredible sunsets. I will force you to break away from your reception during sunset for pictures. You won’t regret it!
  2. I’m a huge animal lover. I own three cats and volunteer whenever I can at an animal shelter. If you ask if you can bring a pet to your engagement session, you will become my new best friend.
  3. I’m a newlywed, so I understand the wedding planning struggle!
