Kansas City Engagement Session | Margaret + Adam

Sunday kicked off the official start to my wedding season with an absolutely beautiful Kansas City engagement session! When Margaret and I first began planning the session, she knew she wanted to really explore the city. Instead of hitting up one location, she decided to add on an extra hour so we could really get different vibes during the session.

We started at the West Bottoms, which I absolutely love for an urban flair. The area sure did deliver and I could quickly tell how much Margaret and Adam loved each other. These two were seriously the sweetest together and Adam had no problem bringing laughter to the session.

I always ask the groom how good he is at thinking of funny things on the spot since my posing is very prompt-focused. Before I could even finish the prompts, he had Margaret laughing like crazy.

After the West Bottoms were thoroughly explored, we went to the Crossroads. These two will be getting married at 2016 Main, so it was fun to incorporate some of the same spots we’ll see on the wedding day.

The final stop was Loose Park and, selfishly, I wish we could have spent the entire session here. Spring was in bloom and we found the most gorgeous pink tree. Margaret’s fashion was also on point and she picked the perfect floral dress to complement the trees. I don’t think we could have found a better location for this time of year!

At the end of the session, Margaret and Adam wanted to celebrate their engagement with a bottle of (non-alcoholic) champagne. Champagne photos are so fun and it’s obvious how much these two actually enjoyed the moment. I told them to act excited when the bottle popped and they sure did deliver.

Thank you so much for an incredible Kansas City engagement session you two! I seriously had a blast making fun of Adam…I mean.. exploring the city. Can’t wait for your wedding in a few short months!

Hear from the couple –

How did he propose?

Adam told me that we were going to a work party at his boss’ house in downtown Kansas City. I tried to get out of it, but he was relentless. When we were walking by Drunken Fish at P&L where we had our first date, he told me there was no work party and got down on one knee and proposed. We grabbed a drink at Drunken Fish and then called our family to fill them in on the events!

Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?

I love how funny, outgoing, and adventurous Adam is. No matter where we go, there is never a dull moment with him! He’s always up for a good time and brings an element of fun to everything we do.

Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?

There are a million things that I love about Margaret. Saying that I love one thing most is too difficult for me. So here are the thingS that I love most. (cue the tears…I added that part)

I love her laugh, her smile, her intelligence, her beauty. I love how important family is to her. I love how much she cares about her friends. I love how much she loves our pets (and animals in general). Whether it is just the two of us at home, or a big group of our friends, I love how much fun we have together. I love that she cusses like a sailor. I love how she flaunts her mediocre dance moves. I love her creativity. I love that she is witty and sarcastic.

I love that she stands up for others and is willing to help anyone. I love that she is always open to trying something new. I love how determined she is when she sets a goal. I love how she takes care of me when I’m sick. I love that she does things that she really doesn’t want to do, because she knows it will make me happy. I want to be a better person because of her.

What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?

We’ve really liked getting to spend so much time together picking everything out and talking over ideas! We’ve loved getting to tour new spaces and getting inspiration from vendors we’ve met and pictures we’ve found for the big day. Food tasting wasn’t too bad either…

What are you looking forward to most about your big day?

Getting to celebrate with all our family and friends! We are ready to get out and have fun again!
