I am so excited to share this passion project with you all! A couple weeks ago, I planned and organized an incredible styled shoot at Meadowlark Event Center in Spring Hill. For the last styled shoot I did, I focused on darker colors, so I really wanted to do things a bit differently with this one. I wanted it to feel like Spring. I don’t know about you, but I was starting to get really sick of the cold and stormy weather, so I decided to change my style up a bit and focus on the light and airy.
Most photographers either describe themselves as dark and moody or light and airy. I’m in a weird place right in the middle and I’ve never really felt comfortable letting myself go either direction. With this shoot, I really wanted to challenge myself to go brighter and lighter. I’ve been so desperate for Spring and this shoot definitely felt like an intro to the best time of the year.
What was the theme?
The theme was lavender and green. Since I really wanted to focus on Spring, I couldn’t think of anything better than greenery. Greenery is such a gorgeous trend these days. I absolutely love it when I have a bride with a giant bouquet full of greenery and all natural flowers. Heart + Soul Floral did an incredible job of adding greenery to everything she created. We even had greenery across the table. How awesome is that? Lavender naturally came to be when focusing on the light and airy aspects of a wedding day. I love purple and light purple is not a very popular wedding color. Why not? It should be! The lavender hues complemented the greenery beautifully.
What was the inspiration?
As mentioned above, I really wanted to make this shoot feel like Spring. I was so sick of winter and just needed some light and airy in my life. After scouring through Pinterest with the green theme in mind, I came across lavender. The colors seemed to go together beautifully. We also added some other neutral tones as well as hints of gold. Through the journey of finding the inspiration, we also decided to focus on organic aspects. The venue has gorgeous rustic walls, so we didn’t want to go to elegant and make the venue look out of place.
What was different?
This shoot is so unlike any wedding I have ever seen. Just look at the bride’s hairpieces! She wore several incredible, unique pieces that went perfectly with our theme. Seriously, take a look at her floral necklace! At one point, we even brought out a floral bowtie for the groom. Have you ever seen anything like it? I sure haven’t. Her dress was also designed out of organic and all natural fabric. The designer, Janay-A Eco Bridal, really focuses on natural materials. I loved how her designs added such an organic, natural feel to the shoot. We had two separate wedding dresses and these are seriously unlike anything you have ever seen. They were so gorgeous and fit the theme.
Finally, the best part of the shoot happened at the very end. We played with smoke bombs! This couldn’t have gone any better. The smoke flowed effortlessly and really added an unusual aspect to the day. I wish I could convince all brides to incorporate smoke bombs because they are so different and so incredibly fun!
Overall, the shoot was absolutely perfect! I’m going to take a few paragraphs to thank all the incredible vendors individually, but here’s a quick breakdown.

Meadowlark Event Center
I can’t even remember how I found Meadowlark Event Center in Spring Hill. Styled shoots are my absolute favorite, so I know I was searching for a newer venue without many images from real weddings. This is Meadowlark’s first year in operation and I know they will soon become a must visit rustic venue. The owners are incredible and they have an open vendor policy. Not to mention, the entire venue is filled with gorgeous old wood. The bridal suite is fantastic as well. There’s a gorgeous old red couch. I could do an entire photoshoot just with that couch! They’re also in the process of doing a lot of updates. I can’t even imagine how incredible it will look in a few months! If you are looking for a rustic, but elegant venue, you must check this one out. It’s located about 20 minutes outside the city in Spring Hill. It’s on tons of land, so think of all the sunset possibilities!
Eleven Events and Planning
Hannah is seriously the best planner I have ever worked with! If you are looking for a wedding planner, you need to hire her now. She’s quick to respond, gets the job done, and everything she does looks so incredible. Tablescapes are her favorite and it shows. Even though this shoot wasn’t her baby to begin with, she was more than happy to get on board and really cared about the final results. There is no way I could have done it without her. In the past, styled shoots have driven me bad. It’s a lot of work to organize a fake wedding! This time, I really had her to depend on, so I was able to breathe and focus on bringing my brain child to life.
Heart + Soul Floral
Heather was another incredible vendor to work with. Her designs were exquisite. She seriously built a bridge for the centerpiece. How amazing is that? On top of the floral necklace and floral bowtie, she created two bouquets, decorated a railing, and created two different centerpieces for two different tables. She is seriously outstanding!
Petals and Pastries
I love Chrystal so much. Not only are her creations gorgeous, but they’re also tasty. I put it a special request for chocolate chip cookies because why not? And she totally delivered. I may have a mild obsession with chocolate chip cookies and these were some of my favorites. Not only are her designs beautiful and delicious, they’re also extremely unique. She creates flavors I have never even heard of. Ok, enough rave reviews. You just need to hire her like yesterday.
Hair by Brittney Booth
I hadn’t worked with Brittney before, but I’m so glad I had the chance to meet her. The best part about styled shoots is they bring all these incredible vendors together. I wouldn’t know half of my friends in the industry if it wasn’t for styled shoots. She did such an amazing job. We had two complete looks as well as several different looks within the looks. She worked closely with Heather of Heart and Soul Floral to even include flowers in her hair.
Ultrapom came through with helping with the decor! They provided chairs, plates, cups, and silverware. We couldn’t have created a beautiful table without them.
Laura did an amazing job with the calligraphy. She designs a full invitation suite as well as place cards and a gorgeous banner. She created the place cards with leafs. How sweet is that? Her creations definitely helped with the overall organic feel to the shoot.
Gown and Accessories
Janay is amazing! Her dresses are all made with organic and eco materials. She seemed to enjoy helping me out so much with wardrobe. My model and I visited her to play dress up and we all had such a good time. She houses several other vendors, like Lily Dawson Designs and Yellow Peony. Working with Janay made wardrobe and accessories a breeze. Instead of coordinating with several different vendors, she had everything right there! If you are looking for a custom, organic dress and unique accessories, check out Janay A Eco Bridal.
