So, let me tell you about the best wedding ever. Ok, I say that about all of my weddings, but seriously, Sierra and Doug had such an amazing day.

We started the day with the girls getting ready at a beautiful house in Lee’s Summit before transitioning to Pine Dell Horse Farm for the ceremony and reception. If you’re looking for a rustic, barn venue, Pine Dell Horse Farm is the perfect place. It’s as barn as it gets. This is no traditional wedding venue; this is a real horse farm. We even had horses make an appearance during our sunset shoot. It was incredible.

I sent my second shooter and assistant to capture the guys getting ready in the loft while the girls and I had tons of time for portraits. The best part about hiring a second shooter is making sure both the guys and girls get the best picture coverage. I was able to give the girls all the time they wanted because I didn’t have to hop back and forth.

After portraits, we had an around the corner first look. Doug was so adamant about not seeing Sierra before the ceremony. He even refused to text her that day and didn’t even want to hear her voice. They brought their moms into the first look to say a prayer blessing the day. It was an incredible moment to capture.

The ceremony itself was so sweet. You could see the love in Doug’s eyes. He lit up when he saw her walking down the aisle. He really couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

Following the ceremony, we had more portrait opportunities. We spent the majority of time on their families and were able to get a few sweet moments just of Sierra and Doug.

We then ate some delicious catered food from Hyvee and witnessed an incredible party.

Of course, halfway through the party, we stepped outside for sunset photos. This sunset was incredible. The sky was on fire. I’m so happy we were able to capture such a beautiful sunset to close their special day.

At the end of the night, the Aunts “gave advice” to Sierra and Doug. This is a tradition where they have a send off with a bird seed blessing. I had never had a bird seed send off at night, but it worked out really well!
