With him being a police officer and her a teacher, they’ve both dedicated their lives to serving others. It was about time they had a night all to themselves. Well, them plus 500 of their closest friends.
Martin and Kate had an absolutely amazing wedding day at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Shawnee Civic Center. The whole day was filled with gorgeous greenery and so many shades of pink. In between the ceremony and reception, we spent some time at Loose Park. If you remember Saturday, it was hot. Very very hot. We were actually battling a heat index of 110 degrees right at the time of our portraits. There was very little shade, but this didn’t stop their wedding party from having a great time. Kate kept thanking the members of her bridal party for tolerating the heat and they always said ‘of course, it’s your day.’ This is true friendship right here. If your friends will stand in 100-degree weather for two hours for you, you know they are keepers.
Let me talk about Kate and Martin for a bit. They’re seriously the sweetest together. Kate’s laugh is pretty much the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen and it’s so obvious how much Martin loves her just by the way he looks at her. I’m so thankful I was able to be part of their day. Originally, I was actually not supposed to photograph their wedding. Due to a horrible circumstance, their original photographer had to cancel. My second shooter actually went to college with Kate and recommended me. I’m so glad I happened to be available and had the privilege of meeting these two wonderful humans.
To Martin and Kate, it was such an honor to witness your love. Thank you for tolerating the heat without any complaints and for trusting me to do my job. I loved watching you interact, as you treated each other with such kindness. Thank you again SO MUCH for allowing me to spend your most special day with you!
