Can you believe it snowed last night??? Like, just a couple days ago it was absolutely beautiful and now it’s freezing and gross. When I met up with Todd and Christina on Friday to take their engagement photos at Shawnee Mission Park, it was 60 degrees and sunny! I will never get used to this midwest weather.

Anyway, when Christina contacted me for an engagement session, she expressed a strong interest in getting pictures taken in a coffee shop since her and Todd are huge coffee people. Since Black Dog Coffee is super close to Shawnee Mission Park, we thought that would be the perfect location to begin their engagement session.

I’ve been to Black Dog Coffee more times than I could count, but I had never had an engagement session (or any session) there before. The staff was so great about allowing us to use their space and even personalized the lattes with their wedding date and names. It was seriously the cutest thing ever.

After we took a few awesome photos at Black Dog, we drove to Shawnee Mission Park to finish the session. Fall colors are looking amazing right now! Christina and Todd could not have picked a better week for their session. All the trees were gorgeous and the weather was nice and crisp. Shawnee Mission Park could not have been any more perfect!

Let me tell you about these two for a second. Christina and Todd actually met at a junior high dance, but they didn’t start dating until after high school. Now, they’ve been dating long distance for five years. Todd currently works as an engineer in Wichita and Christina is finishing up her master’s degree at KU Med. I’m sure they can’t wait until after she graduates to move to Wichita together!

It was so fun for me to get to know these two during their session. They started out a little awkward. I mean, who isn’t awkward when they arrive to take professional photos for the first time? After a few minutes to warm up, they were naturals. It was so fun watching them interact naturally and laugh like crazy.

A little bit about me:

  1. I describe my style as real and vibrant. I focus on bright colors and incredible sunsets. I will force you to break away from your reception during sunset for pictures. You won’t regret it!
  2. I’m a huge animal lover. I own three cats and volunteer whenever I can at an animal shelter. If you ask if you can bring a pet to your engagement session, you will become my new best friend.
  3. I’m a newlywed, so I understand the wedding planning struggle!
