Jamie, Josh, and I had such a good time at their Shawnee Mission Park engagement session last night! Shawnee Mission Park is one of my favorite locations because it’s so versatile and it’s super close to my house (an added bonus).

Although I live close by, I’ve never actually explored the park for myself. Thankfully Jamie grew up just down the street and knew all the best spots! Not only did we get really awesome Fall colors, we went on an adventure to a rocky creek off the beaten path. I didn’t even know this spot existed until a few weeks ago when other local photographers were discussing it. When I mentioned the spot to Jamie and Josh, they jumped on the idea. Jamie happened to know exactly where it was and, despite wearing heels, had no issues climbing the rocks!

Not only did we have the perfect location, but I had the best couple. Jamie and Josh are absolutely adorable together. Whenever I start a session, I usually ask the guy if he’s good at thinking of one liners to make the bride laugh. I have a cheat sheet I pull out when necessary, but Josh had it covered. Jamie says it’s not hard to make her laugh and Josh nailed the prompts. I think I was laughing as much as they were throughout the session.

After we explored the creek, we hit up a wildflower patch where we had the most perfect golden light. Ahhhh! Everything about this session was so dreamy! We wrapped up the session with a breathtaking sunset overlooking the lake!

I had such a good time hanging out with you two at Shawnee Mission Park! Your love is so real and evident. It was a pleasure to be able to capture you two having such a good time together and enjoying life! Just because you two are so awesome, I’ll forgive you for not bringing your fur babies to the session.?

I seriously cannot wait until your wedding day because I know it will be a blast!

How did he propose?

We were in Colorado and driving through State Forest State Park. We found this cool, hidden road and decided to go on it. It led to a trail head and a field surrounded by mountains. What I thought was just a cute picture moment, turned in to Josh getting down on one knee and asking me to be his wife. It was perfect.

Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?

I love how big Josh’s heart is. He will stop what he is doing to help others. He truly is selfless. I love how he always knows exactly what I’m thinking. He knows me better than I know myself! He is an amazing dog dad, uncle to his niece (as well as my niece and nephew), and partner in life. I cannot wait to marry him.

Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?

I love how even the most boring tasks/errands are always fun with her. We are always goofing around to try to make each other laugh. Her smile just brightens up my day and I can’t wait to marry her.
