Mariah and Brody had a beautiful Shawnee Mission Park Engagement session on Sunday. The weather was on point and the trees were as beautiful as they could be. Pink trees have such a light and airy vibe, which I love.
When Mariah first inquired with me, we bonded over our mutual love of cats. They actually have two as well. Mr. Kitty, who was Mariah’s baby before her and Brody started planning their lives together. Even though Mr. Kitty tends to dislike humans, he adopted Brody as his person. Since Brody fell so in love with Mr. Kitty, he insisted on adding another cat to the family. Panda entered the picture and this family of four couldn’t be happier.
Brody actually loves cats so much that, at the end of our session, I asked if they needed anything else before the wedding day and he kept chanting “pictures with cats. Pictures with cats.” Mariah doesn’t feel like that is the best idea, but I mean, I’m never going to turn down taking pictures of fur babies.
When I first arrived at Shawnee Mission Park on Sunday for their engagement session, I knew I wanted to find a beautiful tree, “fluffy” trees as I kept calling them. I drove all over the park, no fluffy trees in sight. Since I was super early, I went outside the park and found this beautiful line of fluffy trees outside a neighborhood. Yes, all those beautiful pink tree pictures were taken in a neighborhood.
Enough about those trees! It was such a blast to hang out with Mariah and Brody. At the start of the session, I asked Brody how good he is at thinking of things to make Mariah laugh on the spot. Before I could even finish the question, Mariah was laughing like crazy. That is the moment I knew it would be a great session. 🙂
At the very end of the evening, I gave Brody one of my absolutely favorite prompts. Without spoiling it, I’m going to say it was a hit because Mariah actually fell down laughing. Mission accomplished!
Thank you so much Mariah and Brody for a wonderful Shawnee Mission Park engagement session. I can’t wait until your wedding next August. More pictures to come shortly!!!
Hear from the couple –
How did he propose?
We moved in with each other and another couple just prior lockdown. One afternoon we planned a walk in the Parkville Nature Sanctuary, an area we frequently visited. Once reaching the waterfall one of our roommates asked if I would climb further up on the rocks, saying he wanted to get a better picture. When I was asked to turn around, Brody was kneeling down.
Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?
What do I love the most about Brody. Well, somehow this boy is always excited. Regardless of what is going on or how many time we have done it in the past, he’s so excited. He truly loves with his entire person and is willing to do whatever he needs to in order to ensure those around him are safe and cared for. He is truly selfless, loving, silly, strong, and one of the biggest nerd’s I have ever met. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my days enjoying him.
Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?
What I love most about Mariah is how genuine her excitement can be. I’ll never tire of seeing the look on her face when we go see the penguins at the Kansas City Zoo, or when she gets in her head about the upcoming wedding. I look forward to witnessing her excitement for the rest of my life.
What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?
Brody: My favorite part about wedding planning is that Mariah loves to plan and gets a big thrill out of planning every detail and leaving me with minimal work.
Mariah: My favorite part about wedding planning has been meeting all the lovely people who have helped me on this journey. While I do love planning I enjoy working with people who are passionate about what they love even more.
What are you looking forward to most about your big day?
Brody: Getting to spend the entire day with my loved one, family, and friends.
Mariah: I am most looking forward to, officially, being able to call Brody my husband. And the food, very excited about the food.
