Let me preface this post by saying this was the most incredible engagement session ever! You want to know why??? Sam and Dylan brought their cat to Shawnee Mission Park for their engagement session! That’s right! They brought her with a leash and harness, and it was perfect. Most cats would get terrified, claw their owners, run away, but not Starr. She sat peacefully in front of us while we took some photos. She was perfectly content just being outside. Most of the time, they didn’t even have her on the leash. I’ve seriously never seen a better behaved cat. My cats would have been halfway across the park before the camera was even pulled out. Wow, just incredible. I loved every single moment of this session. Can all my clients bring cats? Please?

In addition to having the amazing company of Starr, we had a great overall session. For once, Spring decided to act like Spring. It was a bit chilly, but we had gorgeous natural light and an even more gorgeous sunset.

How did he propose?

From Sam – “He proposed spontaneously on a winter afternoon. We were walking around downtown Overland Park and it was freezing outside. The setting was inside my car!!”

Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?

“Dylan continues to make me laugh like no one else. He was and will always be my best friend. We have a lot of traits and behaviors in common, and then we are different in many ways. Dylan is caring, generous, eccentric, and a down to earth man. He gives so much for those he loves. I can be the “raw” Sam and not have any worries. He encourages me to strive for the best and to do the things that fill me with joy.”

Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?

“What I probably love most about Sam is that I can’t help but feel warm inside when I’m around her. She lifts my spirits, and drives me to be a better me (when she’s not driving me crazy.) The person she is allows me to feel like I can truly be myself more than I can with any other person on this planet.”
