Shawnee Mission Park & Liberty Memorial Engagement | Sarah + Michael
Sarah and Michael had such a gorgeous Shawnee Mission Park and Liberty Memorial engagement session last night!
Sarah is one of my 2021 brides who chose to book a styled engagement session with my favorite stylist, Studio A Salon, so we chose to start in Overland Park in order to make travel minimal and capture some Fall colors before they completely disappeared.

Thankfully Shawnee Mission Park was still very much alive and filled with colors! After hitting up some of my favorite photo spots, we went to Liberty Memorial for the sunset! The awesome thing about styled engagement sessions is we have so much time to visit multiple spots! I’m so glad they chose Liberty Memorial because it is one of the best sunset spots in the city.
The sky did not disappoint! It lit up more than I had seen in quite some time! I kept telling Sarah and Michael that they belong on the cover of a romance novel. Those images are just so dreamy! Plus, we had a beautiful 70 degree day. I could have done without the 30 mile per hour winds, but we made it work!

When I first met up with Sarah over zoom for our consultation, like most of my brides, we bonded over our mutual love of cats. They have two as well, so of course we had to share cat pictures at our meeting.
Sarah and Michael are so fun together! They seemed to have such a good time interacting and loving on each other. The wind couldn’t even dampen their spirits. Thank you so much for hanging out with me at Shawnee Mission Park and Liberty Memorial. You two are the sweetest and I seriously cannot wait until your wedding next year!!!

Hear from the couple –
How did he propose?
Michael proposed to me on June 6th at my friend’s 30th birthday party. He waited until the evening, when the sun started to set. Everyone knew but me. He stood up in front of everyone, I remember thinking what is he doing, and next thing I knew he was down on one knee. We had champagne and celebrated the rest of the night with friends.
Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?
I love how compassionate he is. He is compassionate about God, his family, and work. He always has a positive attitude about life and has cheesy jokes.
Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?
Michael said “one of the things I love most about Sarah, is that she loves me for who I am; she lets me be who I am. I love that she is quirky, (the cat thing) Yet can get along with anyone and knows how to be the life of a party. Sarah always is willing to put others before herself and her own feelings,(she has a huge heart). She is very loving, sharing, kind, and compassionate.”
What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?
My favorite part is that I’m getting married at Powell Gardens! I can’t wait to marry Michael in the Chapel. It’s glass and wooden. It’s so peaceful at the gardens and I can’t wait to have that vibe at my wedding. Every time I plan the next thing on the list and visualize it there it gets me excited!
What are you looking forward to most about your big day?
I’m looking forward to marrying Michael at Powell gardens. I’m excited to have all my family and friends there to celebrate!
