Haleigh and Dakota had a beautiful The Bride and The Bauer wedding on Sunday. The Bauer is one of my favorite downtown venues. Not only does it have gorgeous natural light, but I absolutely love the exposed brick walls and twinkly lights!
When I was talking to Haleigh throughout the entire planning process, I knew this would be a fun and laid back day. These two really care about their photos, so we had plenty of time to get breathtaking portraits.
My least favorite part of downtown weddings in the inability to capture a beautiful sunset. Well, I just discovered the perfect location in the heart of downtown. As we were finishing up our afternoon portraits, I was talking to the security guard in charge of making sure we had a safe night. He mentioned a rooftop a couple blocks away. Of course I jumped on the opportunity to capture a sunset in the heart of downtown!
At the end of the night, we planned to have a sparkler exit, but considering the craziness of wedding week, Haleigh and Dakota forgot to get the sparklers. Brennan, the planner with As You Wish, had sparklers at her house and sent her assistant to grab them. I am so glad she did because we had one of my favorite sparkler exits to date. Note to future brides, get Morning Glory sparklers! You’ll thank me later.
Now about Haleigh and Dakota.. I had such a fun time watching these two interact. Dakota is the most extraverted extravert ever and could always make Haleigh laugh. It’s seriously impossible to take a bad picture of these two. Everything they do has model-material written all over it.
Thank you Haleigh and Dakota for allowing me to be part of your gorgeous The Bride and The Bauer wedding! Here’s your full preview!

It had an urban-ish, industrial vibe that we both like and the view of KC is amazing. We also wanted to have our wedding at a place where the ceremony and reception could be held.
What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?
When ordering invites, save the dates, etc., splurge for the pre-addressed envelopes, or at the least, pre-addressed return addresses on them. I know stationery can get pricey in general, but it’ll save so much time. I wrote out all of mine and it really slowed down the process of getting all of our invites sent out.
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
Trying my dress on for the first time. I had already known I loved my dress when I picked it out, but it’s such a different feeling when you’re trying on the sample size compared to trying on YOUR actual dress. I’ve also enjoyed the last month of planning before the wedding. Although it’s also been the most stressful point for me, it’s been really fun picking out the small details like signs, shoes, the cake topper. We had a pretty long engagement and took care of majority of the bigger details early on, so ordering the smaller things and having those come in is super exciting because it’s like oh wow it’s finally almost here.
