The Haven Event Space Wedding | Afton + Derek
Afton and Derek had a beautiful Haven Event Space wedding on Saturday! The Haven Event Space is one of my favorite new venues in the area and I’m so thrilled to have photographed here several times so far this year. Each wedding is so stunning!

Afton and Derek really set their wedding apart with the bright florals. I loved the pops of orange that beautifully complemented the champagne bridesmaid dresses.
One of my favorite parts of the day had to be the first looks. I’m always a sucker for first looks, but Afton decided to do a first look with every important man in her life including her dad, grandpa, son, and of course, new husband. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room (or should I say, behind the windows where all the bridesmaids were watching).

In addition to an emotional morning, these two really hit the sunset jackpot. Not only did we have a gorgeous sunset during their engagement session, but the sky also lit up on their wedding night. I couldn’t get enough of the vibrant colors.
Thank you so much Afton and Derek for allowing me to be part of your beautiful Haven Event Space wedding. Here’s your full preview!

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s):
When we toured The Haven Event space we were amazed with the venue. After Touring Other venues, my Family and I kept talking about how much we liked the Haven. It was a no brainer booking the Haven for our wedding.
What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?
It’s a little cliche, but I see couples getting caught up all the time in what they think they should do, or what their parents want them to do. The day is about you and your partner and you should have the wedding you want! The more things you take care of early on, you will feel more relaxed and less frazzled. Pre-emptively setting up a wedding website with answers to commonly asked questions from guests (like dress code, gifts, directions to the venue, etc.) can also save you a great deal of time in those crucial days leading up to your wedding.
What was your favorite part of the planning process?
My favorite part of the planning process was picking out my wedding dress. I enjoyed going with my mom and sister. Sharing that special moment with them is a memory I will remember for a lifetime.
