The Haven Event Space Wedding | Cassidy + Robbie

Cassidy and Robbie had a gorgeous Haven Event Space wedding on Saturday. It may have been hot, but that didn’t stop these two from going with the flow and having an amazing day!

The Haven Event Space is one of the newest wedding venues in Kansas City and one of my favorites! I’ve had the pleasure of working here several times and seeing the transition from the ground up. Since my last wedding here in November, the venue has already gone through such a transition and it’s amazing to see it grow to one of the premier luxury venues in Kansas City.

Cassidy and Robbie were so fun to work with. They decided against having a first look and waiting until the aisle for the grand reveal. Normally I’m all for first looks, but I couldn’t imagine this day being any better with one. Instead, Robbie had a first look with his daughter Vera. Before the first look, I asked Vera if her dad was going to cry and she said, without hesitation, yes.

One of my favorite moments of the day had to be as Cassidy was walking down the aisle. Vera didn’t take her eyes off of her father as both of their eyes filled with tears. Vera also acted as the “best man” and he asked her “permission” before saying I Do to Cassidy.

During our sunset session, Robbie and Cassidy were up for anything. I asked if they wanted to climb on some rocks to get an epic shot with the lake in the background. They were all for it. I may have ruined my shoes in the process (since I was way less careful than they were), but it was totally worth it. No regrets.

Their day had all the makings of an amazing wedding. From gorgeous florals to a Napoleon Dynamite choreographed dance at the end of the night to an ice cream truck, there wasn’t a detail left unnoticed.

Share the inspiration and atmosphere you’re creating for your wedding:

When envisioning our wedding, I wanted a very romantic, whimsical atmosphere. To bring my vision to life, I wanted lots of flowers all around with garden greenery as well as candlelight and other flowing aspects to the decor.

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s):

We chose The Haven Event Space because it perfectly brings together our two styles. We also loved how much thought the owners, Blake and Abby, put into every aspect of creating the venue. They really thought of all the ways to create an event space that caters to all the wants and needs of the bride, groom, and even the vendors. It is a gorgeous location and we really couldn’t imagine getting married anywhere else!

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?

It is never too early to get a head start on planning! Find the vendors who truly understand your vision for your wedding, book them as soon as you can, and don’t be afraid to ask them for advice.

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

Just seeing our vision for the wedding come to life! It started as a very vague concept and evolved into something beautiful that really represents who we are as a couple and gives us and our guests a great experience.
