The Journey Home | Shannon + Scott

My wedding season is officially over! I shouldn’t be so excited about that. It really is bittersweet. I’ve had such an amazing last few months, but I am looking forward to a much needed break. I’ll be nice to not be on my computer every second of the day when I’m not out shooting, but at the same time, I’m really going to miss weddings. My season starts back up in March, so I’ll have plenty of time to catch up on blogging and do some business updating. If you haven’t noticed, I haven’t blogged any engagement session for the last couple months. That will soon change.

Anyway, my season concluded at The Journey Home with Shannon and Scott. I had been looking forward to their wedding for a long time. Not only are they awesome people, but I was getting the chance to work with one of my favorite planners! I first met Hannah from Eleven Events and Planning about a year ago and we have worked together several times on various projects. We just hadn’t had the opportunity to do a wedding together yet, so I was sooooo excited when Shannon hired her.

The whole day was gorgeous from start to finish. Even though it was a freezing day and we weren’t able to get outside much, we still had the chance to take some amazing portraits.

I had two favorite parts of the day. The day started with getting ready at the Journey Home house and Shannon brought her dog, who insisted on sitting on her lap during most of the morning. Sorry Shannon, half of your gallery will probably be filled with pictures of Tucker. #sorrynotsorry.

My second favorite part happened at night when Shannon’s dad put on a fireworks show for all the guests. I mean, these were serious fireworks, not the type you get at a stand on the Fourth. How many people can say they had a frickin fireworks show at their wedding??? Not many.

Thank you so much Shannon and Scott for allowing me to be part of your gorgeous day at the Journey Home. Here’s your full preview. 🙂

Share your inspiration and the atmosphere you’re creating for your wedding.

Our theme is “let the adventure begin” – we’re going for a fun atmosphere and the vision is rustic/classy/simple. I feel like those are an oxymoron, butttttttt you’ll get it!

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s).

We love the country and a barn was my ideal venue as soon as I started wedding planning. When we drove up – this place was perfect!

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?

Just remember – at the end of the day, as long as you’re married to the man of your dreams, everything will be okay!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?
