Wedding reception at the Magnolia at Brookside

The Magnolia at Brookside Wedding | Katie + Jon

You may remember Katie and Jon from last year. They were one of the many couples who were forced to postpone their reception so all their family and friends could party safely. Well, the day finally arrived and they had a beautiful Magnolia at Brookside Wedding reception!

Since they officially were married last year, they decided to not renew their vows and instead focus on the party. We went to Loose Park to take a few pictures of them with their wedding party, comprised only of their siblings. We finished out the portraits at the Magnolia at Brookside. Rain was in the forecast, but it managed to hold out long enough for us to finish all the portraits.

This picture was an unposed accident, but I actually kind of love it.

I'm so glad I've had the chance to get to know Katie and Jon over the past two years. It's a little bittersweet that their planning is over, but I'm so glad they were finally able to complete the wedding of their dreams!

Our vision for our wedding was simple, romantic, lots of greenery, and an intimate atmosphere.

Share how (or why) you chose your wedding venue(s):

While we already got married in our backyard in a tiny quarantine ceremony, we're excited to celebrate with friends and family at the Magnolia at Brookside! We picked Magnolia due to the ability to flow from the indoor to outdoor space and the beautiful art deco details.

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?

Remember what matters! No one will care about the favors or the cutlery, so focus your energy on the stuff YOU care about. Sure, you'll have to deal with a lot of other details, but don't feel like you have to do something simply because other people do it. It's your party, after all!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

Although it was incredibly stressful at first, it was really enjoyable planning our new COVID-era ceremony! It was nice to have one part of our day be just for us, and another big party 1 year later to share with our extended family and friends!
