The Wild Way Coffee Minimony | Erin + J.D.

Erin and J.D. had a gorgeous minimony at the Wild Way Coffee Warehouse on Friday. Since these two have had the worst of it when it came to COVID rescheduling, they decided to go for it and have a minimony, which is a small ceremony with less than 20 of their favorite people.

After originally scheduled to have an April wedding, Erin and J.D. rescheduled to July 3rd, hoping the world would be back to normal by that point. A few weeks before the day, they decided it was still too risky to host the full wedding, so they rescheduled to next year. That wasn’t going to stop them from still getting married in July though!

So, they decided to invite only a few of their favorite people and have a picnic-style celebration. In Erin and J.D.’s words, cutting down their guest count was not a hard decision. Marriage was their priority and they knew exactly who should be there to make their special day a reality.

When I first met Erin and J.D., we quickly bonded over our mutual love of traveling and cats. I was so excited to be able to document their love, so I was a little bummed when COVID hit and they were faced with difficult decisions. Instead of letting the situation of the world get them down, they decided to adapt and go with the flow. In order to ease the burden of COVID, they had a socially distant party on their original date, April 25th. I had the pleasure of joining them for this special celebration.

Erin contacted me about a week before their original date asking if I had any tips for how to film the “party” and include it in their final wedding video. Instead of giving them tips, I asked if they would allow me to come capture it for them. It’s the least I could do to help with the hand they were dealt! You can view the video I created for them on Youtube!

Since these two are pretty awesome, I was excited when they once again asked me to capture their minimony at the Wild Way Coffee Warehouse before their large wedding next year!

I love these two so much! It’s a pretty good feeling when I find clients who I want to be friends with! When I was leaving the Crossroads Hotel, where Erin was getting ready, she stopped me and said she bought me a coffee mug. It said “cats, coffee, and chill.” It’s not too often I receive presents from my couples, but it really makes me irrationally happy. I was so excited she thought of me and wanted to give me a gift.

Erin and J.D. are just the perfect couple. I love watching them interact, through glances across the room to being so silly together. They know how to have fun and it’s so clear how much they care about each other.

Their picnic minimony at the Wild Way was 100% them. With the help of Candace, their wedding planner from Union Event Space, and Wonder and Whimsy Events, they created the most perfect and intimate space to officially tie the knot!

Even though they didn’t get married on “the perfect date,” it was still perfect for them! Thank you so much Erin and J.D. for entrusting me with capturing your day, not once or twice, but three times! And thank you so much for making the best out of this crappy situation! I can’t wait to officially celebrate with you again next year at the Union Event Space!!!
