After photographing more than 200 weddings, I have seen so many cool things so I decided to write a post about my favorite wedding trends. Some of these have been around for years while others are starting to pop up more frequently this season.
If you want to level up your guest's experience and create a more unique wedding day, definitely add these to your wedding timeline.
1. Bright Florals
Throughout the last 7 years of my career, I've seen so many different types of florals. My heart will always be with blush and white, but lately, I've been seeing so many different pops of colors. I'm obsessed with the way color greatly adds to any wedding day. As much as you may think light and airy is the traditional way to go for your wedding, there's nothing wrong with adding some color if you feel inclined.
2. Unique First Looks
It's pretty common to do a first look with your spouse and dad, but there's also nothing wrong with adding some different first looks to your timeline.
Here are some ideas to consider:
- First look with your children
- First look with grandparents
- First look dressed in a costume
- First look with the groomsmen
- First look with your siblings
- First look with anyone special in your life!
3. Different Wedding Desserts
Although cake is the go-to when it comes to wedding desserts, there's nothing wrong with adding some extra deliciousness. Maybe you love donuts or ice cream and want to do them in addition to a cake. Or, maybe you want to avoid cake altogether. There's no reason to stick with tradition if you want to do things your own way.
4. Private Last Dance
This is probably my favorite wedding trend because it is so personal between the two of you. While your guests are getting ready for the exit, ask your DJ to play a song just for you two. This way you can see your venue cleared out and really take in the moment for the first time all day. As much as the wedding day is about you and your spouse, you really don't get to spend that much time together. This allows you to enjoy your reception for a bit without all eyes on you!
5. Multiple "Exits"
The majority of my weddings have staged exits, which basically means we do the exit before the actual reception ends. This is ideal because you have extra time to play around with the sparklers or even add some bubbles or glow sticks to the mix. If you can't decide which type of exit to do, why not do them all? Also, this is the perfect opportunity to surprise your guests with fireworks once they think the exit is complete!
There you have it! The top 5 wedding trends for 2023! Which ones will you include on your special day?
