This weekend is a busy one for me. I don’t have a wedding, but I do have three engagement sessions. As much as I love weddings, engagement sessions offer something different. I get to spend time just hanging out and goofing around without the stress of a timeline.

Weston Bend State Park Engagement Session

My triple header engagement weekend kicked off with Taylor and Isaac at Weston Bend State Park. Taylor and Isaac live in Springfield and drove up just for our session. I feel honored!!!

These two were seriously the most fun. I have a lot of odd prompts to evoke real emotions. Often times couples look at me like I’m crazy, but not Taylor and Isaac. They really went all out with each prompt and their emotions showed. Whenever I’m cracking up along side the couple, I know it’s a good session.

It was also great to explore Weston Bend State Park. I’ve actually never had a session here before, but when I was looking for a space for my own engagement photos two years ago, I came across this park. My husband (then fiancé) and I explored the park before deciding it would be the perfect place for our session. It’s not overrun like most photo spots in the city and there’s tons of nature all around. Any space with lots of greenery makes me a happy photographer! Speaking of nature, while I was there last night, I saw a possum crossing the road and several deer just chilling in the forest. Unfortunately the deer did not try to photobomb us. I would have loved to capture that. Pure nature at its finest.

Thanks again to Taylor and Isaac for driving up from Springfield for our session! I can’t wait for your wedding in November. Here’s your full preview!

Hear from the couple –

How did he propose?

He wanted to surprise me so much. I knew he had the ring for a long time so we would go on vacation and I would waggle my finger and wonder, but he would just laugh. He ended up catching me completely by surprise and proposed out on the deck at the house under the stars.

Question for the bride: what do you love most about him?

I love that I can be completely myself around him. He knows me so incredibly well–sometimes better than I know myself. He is so thoughtful and caring and just makes me feel constantly loved.

Question for the groom: what do you love most about her?

From Isaac: “I love how loving you are. Not just to me but to everyone. You’re caring and sweet and everything you decide to love, you love with your whole heart”

What’s your favorite part about wedding planning?

It makes the fact that I’m getting married real, like it’s actually happening! Also seeing my Pinterest board actually come to life is cool too.

What are you looking forward to most about your big day?

“Getting married…?” –Isaac ?

Thanks for visiting!

A little bit about me:

  1. I describe my style as real and vibrant. I focus on bright colors and incredible sunsets. I will force you to break away from your reception during sunset for pictures. You won’t regret it!
  2. I’m a huge animal lover. I own three cats and volunteer whenever I can at an animal shelter. If you ask if you can bring a pet to your engagement session, you will become my new best friend.
  3. I’m a newlywed, so I understand the wedding planning struggle!
