Weston Red Barn Farm Wedding | Alysen + Alex

Ok, hold on tight. This is going to be a long post. Alysen and Alex had the most beautiful Weston Red Barn Farm wedding on Saturday. I may be slightly biased because I’ve been personal friends with these two for 5ish years, but I’m pretty sure you all will agree with me. They are stunning and their day was so filled with love and happiness.

I first met Alysen and Alex when I started at Best Buy in 2015. The Best Buy had just opened a camera experience shop and I was hired to sell Canon equipment. My department was located right next to mobile, where Alex was selling Samsung products. I quickly got to know him and loved talking to him whenever I had a break. Alysen worked up front, so I didn’t get to know her until a few weeks later. They started dating right around the time I met them both. When I first met Alysen, she was known as the crazy cat lady of the store. We bonded very quickly over our mutual love of cats, but I didn’t really get to know her until she moved to the mobile department a while later. I can’t remember the specific dates, but I don’t think she moved to mobile until the following year.

After she moved to a closer department, I was able to really watch their relationship blossom. I witnessed them fall in love and quickly build a future together, which included adding a new cat to their family.

I left Best Buy in 2017, but still kept in touch with Alysen. She graduated with a degree in cosmetology, so I asked her to participate in my first ever styled shoot. I was just seriously getting involved in the wedding industry at this time and loved how I already had a hair and makeup connection.

Later that year, one of her best friends (and my former coworker) got engaged and I was asked to do the photography while she did the hair and makeup. It was awesome getting to work with her once again.

Fast forward a few months to when Alysen and Alex got engaged. I had to pleasure of witnessing their relationship grow so I was secretly hoping I would get to be part of this experience with them. Well…I probably wasn’t super secretive in my hoping. I was sure to comment on all her engaged posts and make her remember this is what I do for a living. I don’t think she needed much convincing, but I still wanted to make sure my name was in her mind when they began their photography search.

When she first contacted me officially and we met up, I knew their day would be incredible. I had already formed a connection with them, so the hard part was over. The rest was full of wedding talk, having an amazing engagement session, and several fun planning sessions.

Leading up to the wedding day, COVID through several wrenches in their plans but Alysen and Alex knew they were going to get married on September 19th. Whether they had 10 guests in attendance or 200, nothing was going to stop them from celebrating their love.

While I love all my couples, there is something truly special about photographing a friend. I felt like I was an integral part of their wedding celebration. I wasn’t just a photographer, but someone who really was there to celebrate with them!

From the weather to the heart-felt notes (Alex actually put together an entire book to give her on the morning of their wedding) to the specialty drinks named after their cats, everything about the day was absolutely perfect. I even was able to work with some of my favorite vendors!

It was obvious how much Alysen and Alex truly cared about each other. Alex’s best man, Michael, even said in his speech that Alex didn’t think he would ever meet someone to spend his life with, but when Alysen came into the picture, they all knew how this was meant to be. When I first photographed them together for their engagement session, although I had known them for years prior, I was really able to experience their love and the fun they have together. These two are the dictionary definition of relationship goals!

When I was building this preview, I told Kyle that I think I’m a little too biased to be editing them. I loved every single picture I took and was definitely less critical about my own work than I normally am. Oh well, that is why they are getting 100+ previews 48 hours after their wedding!

I love you Alysen and Alex so much! Thank you for including me in your Weston Red Barn Farm wedding day and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you! Hopefully that future will include more cats and margarita dates with me!!!! Here’s your full preview!

We wanted an outdoor venue where we could spread out and have fun.

What is your most valuable piece of advice you can share with future couples planning their wedding?

Have fun! It goes by so fast and it’s not worth stressing over the little details. Especially currently with Covid, all that matters is that we get to spend the day with the people most important to us!

What was your favorite part of the planning process?

….that it’s over. Lol just kidding. I also loved the dinner and dessert tastings.
