Hey there! This is the third article in the series “How to Hire a.” I’ve been talking to several industry professionals and each week, I will publish another article in the series.

Wedding planning can be hard and annoying. I know, I’m going through it as well! So, hopefully, I can take some of the stress off of you by giving you valuable information.

This series will help you know what to look for when hiring different vendors. I had each vendor answer a few questions that will give you insight into how his or her business is run and what you should keep in mind when looking to hire that particular vendor.

Third up is Greg Snow with Enchanted Acres Wedding Venue. Enchanted Acres is one of my favorite venues. If you are looking for a venue with incredible scenery and natural light, this is the place to go. The prices are reasonable and Greg has the ‘you do you’ mentality. He doesn’t care what vendors you use and will entertain all of your crazy ideas. This is where I will be getting married in October.

How far in advance do you usually book up?

Enchanted Acres is one of the most popular outdoor wedding venues in the Kansas City Area.
Couples begin booking 9-12 months in advance of their desired date, typically. However, we
always have a couple +12 month bookings, and some last-minute, shotgun-wedding requests.

How many months before the wedding do you recommend couples book you? Why?

Enchanted Acres is one of the most popular outdoor wedding venues in the Kansas City Area.
9-12 Months out seems to be an ideal advance for booking the venue. There are a number of
services to book, and a significant amount of planning that is required for a wedding. The more
time you have, the better. Unless you’re a wedding professional, give yourself the most time as
possible.

How many weddings do you do per day/per weekend?

At Enchanted Acres, you get exclusive access to the wedding venue for the entire day, so we
only book one wedding per day. Typically, we do 1-2 weddings per weekend.

What do you want couples to keep in mind when researching your service/others offering the same service?

Enchanted Acres offers so much more than just an event site; TONS of extras are included with
each package. Make sure that when you are comparing venues that you are comparing ALL
the services offered, not just the cost of the venue. Also, ask about extra fees or charges for
using outside vendors. Enchanted Acres doesn’t charge fees or penalties for using vendors
outside our preferred vendor list.

What are some of the most common/most important questions to ask about your service?

The most important questions you can ask about Enchanted Acres Wedding Venue is how to
get discounts! We offer several promotions and discounts throughout the year. From free TV
giveaways, to $1000-off promotions, and Paid-In- Full discounts, there’s always a discount to be
given!

What do you wish every couple knew about your service/wedding planning in general?

At Enchanted Acres, we want you to have the wedding of your dreams. That means we give
you the freedom to have your wedding, your way. You have the freedom to use outside
vendors with no fees or penalties. You have the choice to add or remove decorations as you
see fit. And you have the freedom to add different amenities from our a la carte menu to make
your day as special and as unique as you want!

How many hours overall would you say you spend on each wedding?

Enchanted Acres is an outdoor-garden wedding venue, so of course there is a TON to do year-
round to make sure the landscaping and venue are in perfect condition for your big day. We are
constantly making updates to the venue and gardens to keep up with current styles, making
general improvements, and adding new features.

On the day of the wedding, we are busy making sure that everything you have planned goes
smoothly. From parking cars, to helping guests, bartending, running the photobooth, and
helping with the firepit and yard games, we’re always finding ways to be helpful for you.

On the day of your wedding, we’re working for you from 8am until midnight. But previous to
that, we’re working year-round to make sure the venue is perfect for your wedding day.

What’s your favorite part of the wedding planning process?

Enchanted Acres has amazing areas for photography. We love seeing how happy couples are
with their pictures from the venue and grounds. There are so many different types of scenes
and backgrounds available that every bride can get all of her dream pictures here. From rustic
barn-type buildings, brick walls, dirt roads, flowering vines, and sunset reflections in the pond,
there’s a picture waiting for every bride! It makes all of the work and maintenance worthwhile to
see happy brides!

How involved are you in the planning process?

At Enchanted Acres, we like to help in any area you need us for. We want you to have the
wedding of your dreams, so we’re as involved as you need us to be. We can help with your
day-of agenda, make vendor recommendations, we can even decorate for you! If you need
help, we’re the first place you should come for help!

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to couples planning their weddings?

The best advice for couples beginning their wedding planning is don’t be afraid to ask for help,
and don’t be afraid to ask for extras!
