Wyandotte County Engagement | Natalie + Leighton
I met up with Natalie and Leighton for their Wyandotte County Engagement Session on Sunday and it was absolutely perfect! We had the best light, the best weather, and the best sunset!
When Natalie first reached out to me in the middle of the stay at home order, we jumped on a Zoom call and quickly bonded over our mutual love of cats, coffee, and sarcasm. As a matter of fact, both of our cats jumped on the call with us. We chatted about life and it really felt like connecting with an old friend. Her and Leighton had only been engaged a few weeks and she was ready to get the planning started!

They’re getting married this October and booked us for both photo and video. Kyle, my husband and resident videographer, will be working his birthday to celebrate with them. I jokingly said we expect our own cake and we both laughed. During the engagement session, Natalie asked what kind of cake he wants. I said I was just joking, but she insisted. If carrot cake is an option, he wants it! ? ? ? But seriously, a cake isn’t necessary but we will never say no to carbs…
Leading up to the engagement session, Natalie also asked what I typically order from Starbucks because they were going to stop on their way to the session. I told her, not thinking much of it, and they actually showed up with my favorite drink! I have seriously never felt so appreciated. Note to future clients, if you want me to love you forever, bring me coffee. Kidding. I love all my clients equally…but I also really like coffee.

These two have the kindest hearts and it was obvious how much they loved each other at the session. Natalie and Leighton were perfectly comfortable laughing and joking around with each other while still looking stunning. Natalie has the most gorgeous hair. I have serious hair envy right about now.
Everything about their session was picture perfect. I love Wyandotte County Lake because of the way the light hits the trees, creating a gorgeous backdrop. It’s also an incredible sunset spot. We don’t always luck out with a nice sunset, but the colors on Sunday were so stunning. I don’t always bring a full lighting setup to engagement sessions because we typically keep it more casual. Sunset sessions are reserved for the wedding day, but thankfully I still had my flash in my car and I couldn’t pass up capturing them in front of the beautiful backdrop. I swear, no photoshop went into creating that sky!

I knew these two would be a blast since they were referrals from one of my 2019 couples, Brooke and Zion, who I loved working with so much. I have no doubt in my mind that Natalie and Leighton’s wedding will be just as fun!
